(From Midland Cremation)Jonathan David Dobbins, age 78, of Joplin, MO passed away Friday, September 3, 2021. He was born on July 31, 1943 in Joplin to Rosa Mae and Jonathan Joseph Dobbins. He resided in Joplin, MO most of his life where he retired from Joplin R8 School District after 20 years. He served in the US Air Force from April 1963 to April 1967.
Jon enjoyed reading, selling items at the Joplin Flea Market and he was very handy and there was not a home remodel project he couldn't tackle.
He loved God, reading his Bible and spending time with his family. He left this earthly life a few hours before his 53rd wedding anniversary. There is one amazing reunion and celebration happening in Heaven right now!
Jon was preceded in death by his wife Barbara, parents Rosa Mae and Jonathan Dobbins, sisters Joann Baker and Sharon Zumwalt, and two daughters Dianne Danley and Doreen Riley.
He is survived by his son, Jonathan David Dobbins Jr. (Melanie), daughter Debra Plummer (Wayne), daughter Jamie Norman (Dave), daughter Jere Hamilton all of Joplin, seven grandchildren, James, Mandy, Angela, Meagan, Kyle, Tyler, and Jayden, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter; brother, Paul Dobbins; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Jon will truly be missed by his friends, family and all who knew him.
The family is planning a memorial service for a later date.
