Charlotte Bergen

(From Ozark Funeral Home)

Charlotte Darlene Bergen, 86, of Goodman, Missouri, departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, Arkansas, after a recent illness. She entered this life on November 11, 1938, in rural Anderson, Missouri, the youngest of three daughters born to the union of the late Onell and Violet (Frisbee) Wilson.

A lifelong resident of the area, Charlotte graduated from Rocky Comfort High School in 1956.

On February 7, 1956, she married her first love, LaVaughn Woolard, and together they welcomed two daughters into the world. Charlotte's role as a mother was only the beginning of her journey of nurturing and care. After LaVaughn's passing in 1992, she found love again and married Richard Lee Bergen, who also preceded her in death in 2019.

Charlotte's work ethic was as strong as her devotion to her family. For several years she worked alongside LaVaughn in the operation of their family farm. She also worked in the accounting department at Sunbeam and later at the McDonald County Courthouse as a Deputy Clerk.

Her sisters and she shared a deep bond, caring for their mother for over twenty-eight years, ensuring she remained comfortably at home. This act of love was a true reflection of Charlotte's character, always putting the needs of her family above her own.

Charlotte's faith was the cornerstone of her life. A longtime member of Banner Church of the Nazarene, she lived her beliefs through her actions and her unwavering trust in the Lord. Her interests were many and varied; she was a talented seamstress, enjoyed tending to her flowerbeds, and cherished the simple pleasure of dining out. Charlotte was a familiar face at her grandchildren's sporting events, always offering her support and encouragement. Her love for travel and watching Wheel of Fortune, QVC, and the Hallmark channel brought her much joy and relaxation.

She is survived by a loving family that includes her two daughters, Charlene Bergen and husband, Dennis, of Anderson, and Darlene Smith of Rogers, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Bo Bergen and wife, Kelsey, Dalton Smith and wife, Kayla, and Aspen Cruise and husband, Michael; two great-grandchildren, Kole and Blakely Bergen; two sisters, Delores Talbot of Neosho and Dolly Payne of Anderson; three stepchildren, Sandra Bergen of Anderson, Jeff Bergen of Overland Park, Kansas, and Beth Bergen also of Anderson; as well as a host of other family and friends who will miss her dearly.

Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 15, 2024 in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Pastor Dennis Bergen officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery near Longview, Missouri. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Bo Bergen, Dalton Smith, Michael Cruise, Paul Desautels, Dick Payne and Eric Call. The family will receive friends on Friday morning beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Memorials are being directed to Banner Church c/o the funeral home. Arrangements are under the care of Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri.
