Ellen (Hooker) Hatfield, 72, of Dixon, Missouri, passed away suddenly at her home on March 23, 2025.She was born on December 13, 1952, in Richland Center, Wisconsin, to Evelyn (Pellett) and Harley Hooker. Ellen grew up in the Viola, Wisconsin area and attended Kickapoo High School.
On August 2, 1970, she married the love of her life, Jerry Hatfield. Together, they raised three children while Jerry dedicated over three decades to military service before retiring from the Army. Ellen also had a distinguished career, working as a retail manager for the Army and Air Force Exchange for 23 years before retiring in October 2013.
Ellen had a creative spirit and a passion for craftiing. She loved sewing, working with glass, and collaborating with her husband on woodworking projects.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry; daughter, Julie (Tony) Bowers of Neosho, MO, and Jehna (Charles) Anderson-Evans of Everett, WA; son, Jeremy Hatfield of Jerome, MO; and her beloved adopted grandchildren, Kanon Bowling-Hatfield and Daylynn Hatfield of Dixon, MO. She was also a cherished grandmother to Deric Shetler, Justen Bowers, Ericka Anderson, and Jerilyn Anderson, and great-grandmother to Casius Shetler.
Ellen is also survived by her siblings, Roger (Becky) Hooker, Pauline Boggs, David (Diane) Hooker, Gaylord Hooker, Nancy Schmit, and Keven (Becky) Hooker; sisters-in-law, Teri Hooker and Linda Hooker; brothers-and sisters-in-law Gary (Sally) Hatfield, Mike (Marylyn) Hatfield, Verta Revels and many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harley and Evelyn (Pellett) Hooker, her parents-in-law, Eugene and Lillian (Copus) Hatfield, her daughter Judie Hatfield, brothers Darvin and Larry Hooker, brothers-in-law Dick Boggs, Gerry Schmit, Kenneth Hatfield, Orval Hatfield, and James Revels; sisters-in-law Linda Hooker, Verna Winger and Phyllis Kelbel.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Apri 19, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the La Farge Free Methodist Church, 214 S. Cherry St., La Farge, WI. Visitation at the church from 10:00 a.m. to time of service. Lunch following service at the church.
Ellen will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
