Marjorie Biggs

Marjorie Ann Biggs, age 87, of Joplin, MO passed away on Friday, April 4, 2025 at Joplin Gardens.

Marjorie was born on November 20, 1937 in Joplin, MO to the late Elmer Evans and Florence (Goff) Dobbs. She graduated in 1955 from Joplin High School and went on to attend Joplin Junior College. She married Allen Biggs in 1965 in Joplin.







Marjorie loved acting and dancing and completed a screen test in Hollywood and was accepted into one of the best acting schools in the country. After much consideration though, she decided to return home and begin her career as a beauty operator. She owned several shops in the Joplin area over the years. 

She raised her two boys Charles “Chuck” and James “Ed” and once they had graduated and moved out, Allen and Marjorie began raising quarter horses in Missouri and racing them in Oklahoma and New Mexico. Allen and Marjorie were members of the Byers Avenue United Methodist Church for over 10 years before her health began to decline. She enjoyed dancing on local tv stations in the 1950’s and 1960’s.

In addition to her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Laster.







Marjorie is survived by her husband, Allen Biggs; three children, Charles “Chuck” Swanson, James “Ed” Biggs (his wife, Lynn) and Elizabeth “Beth” Biggs; one granddaughter, Annie Biggs; and two great long time friends, considered family, Dennis and Becky Herr.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Hope Cemetery Pavilion.

Funeral arrangements are under the special care and direction of Parker Mortuary
