(From Parker Mortuary)James Francis “Jim” Kennedy, age 81, Carl Junction, MO, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at 2:56 a.m. at Freeman West of Joplin.
Jim was born April 17, 1943 in Denver, CO, son of the late James Frederick Kennedy and Betty Louise (Robbins) Kennedy. He grew up in Carl Junction and graduated from Carl Junction High School. He worked as an over the road truck driver for most of his life. He worked for Jones Truck Lines for years before working for Buford Transfer which he did until his retirement on November 13, 1998.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carl Junction. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved to canoe, go to cars shows, spend time with his friends, and listen to old country music. He will be missed by many.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Kay Kennedy; and a sister, Carol McBee.
Survivors include his daughters, Stacey Kennedy (Marty Mullin) of Joplin, Tracy Allen (Shane) of Baxter Springs, KS, and Leslie Huhn (Chris) of Carl Junction; grandchildren, Kennedy Allen of Kansas City, MO and Harrison Huhn of Tucson, AZ; brother, Edward L. Kennedy (Judy) of Joplin; several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in the Rooted Church of Carl Junction (formerly First Baptist Church) with Pastor Russell Roderick officiating.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Shriner's Children.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
