(From Parker Mortuary)Walter Franklin Anderson, known to many as Frank, passed away on June 3, 2026, in Joplin, Missouri, following an extended illness. He was born on January 29, 1937, in Saginaw, Missouri, and lived a life marked by quiet strength, steady devotion, and a generous spirit that touched the lives of many.
Frank was the son of the late Walter M. and Lorean (Powers) Anderson. He grew up with strong family values that shaped the course of his life and remained with him always. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Eunice Cantrell, Mary Rennison, Lora Arnall, and Richard Anderson. Those who knew him best will remember a man who was intelligent, handy, and selfless, and who carried those qualities into every part of his life.
After graduating from Diamond High School in 1957, Frank served his country in the United States Army. His service reflected the same sense of duty and responsibility that would guide him throughout his life. Following his military service, he continued his education and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Missouri-Rolla, preparing him for a long and respected career in electrical engineering.
Frank retired after 30 years as an Electrical Engineer with Southwestern Electrical Company in Wichita, Kansas which he was part owner of the company. He was known for his skill, dependability, and practical mind, and he took pride in doing his work well. His colleagues and those who worked alongside him appreciated his knowledge and his willingness to help others. He approached his profession with dedication and integrity, and his contributions were valued throughout his career.
On a personal level, Frank was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He shared 69 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Genevieve (Cope) Anderson of Joplin, Missouri. Their long marriage was a testament to enduring love, companionship, and mutual support. He is also survived by his son, Curt Anderson and his wife Shell of Florida; his daughter-in-law, Shanna Anderson of Kansas City, Missouri; and his grandson, Dylan Anderson. His family was a source of great pride and joy, and he treasured the time he spent with them. A son, Doug Anderson preceded Walter in passing.
Frank enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, especially fishing and golfing. These pastimes brought him peace and happiness, and they reflected his appreciation for time spent outdoors and in good company. Whether casting a line or spending a day on the golf course, he found contentment in moments that allowed him to relax and enjoy life’s quieter blessings.
Committal of ashes will take place on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Saginaw Cemetery south of Joplin. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Solace House of The Four States, in care of the mortuary.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
