Evelene Pearl Spaulding, 90, formerly of Joplin, passed away Monday, November 9, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Evelene was born September 19, 1925 in Vici, Oklahoma to the late Ralph J. Tomberlin and Lillie Schamburg Tomberlin. She worked in accounting for J.C. Penney in Tulsa for several years before moving to Joplin where she worked for May's City Drug Store. Evelene was a member of College Heights Christian Church where she loved to volunteer her time.
On April 6, 1947, Evelene married Floyd 'Sam' Spaulding in Enid, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on June 6, 2001. Others preceding her in death are brothers;Emerson and Ralph Tomberlin and sisters, Maxine Gaston and Lucille Daily.
She is survived by a son, Randy Spaulding and his wife, Karen of Joplin; daughter, Cinda Wilson and her husband, Stephen of Waggoner, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Kristy Scheid, Shane Wilson, Shawn, Jennifer, Kelsie and Samantha Spaulding; five great-grandchildren, Joshua Havens, Alexander Wilson, Jaydn Spaulding, Collin Spaulding and Abby Wilson.
Graveside services are planned for Saturday, November 14th at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Hope Open Air Chapel. Rich Bushnell will be officiating.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
