Mildred V. Campbell, devoted wife and mother, age 105 of Joplin, passed away at 7:50 p.m. on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at National Healthcare Center.
Born August 14, 1910 in Smithfield, MO, she was the daughter of the late George and Martha Legg Barclay and lived in the Joplin area her lifetime. A homemaker, she also attended Nurses School at Freeman Hospital, where she worked a number of years. She was a member of South Joplin Christian Church.
On June 14, 1936 she married Edwin Dale Campbell in Joplin. He preceded her in death on December 23, 1999. Two sisters, three brothers, a grandson and great-granddaughter also preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Campbell and wife Charlene, Edward Campbell and wife Barbara, both of Joplin; a daughter, Marjorie Newton and husband James of Joplin; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Hope Cemetery with Dr. Colleen Carroll officiating. Pallbearers will be Nicholas Newton, Mike Wardlow, Chris Campbell, Will Showen, Brad Campbell, Shawn Lucas and Robert Lucas. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Parker Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to South Joplin Christian Church Memorial Fund.
