Martha Kincaid

Martha Darlene Kincaid, age 74, of Lamar, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at K.U. Medical Center following a short illness.

Martha was born December 5, 1940 in a log cabin near Milford, Missouri, one of the five children of Frank and Pearl (McMackin) Weathermon. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lawerance Edward & Leo Francis Weathermon; and two sisters, Opal Marie Denny and Amy Lorene Clawson Harrington. On February 28, 1960, in Mindenmines, Missouri, Martha married Jerry Kincaid and they had shared nearly 50 years together before his death February 15, 2010.

Jerry’s job with General Motors necessitated moving several times through the years. While living in Wichita, Martha was employed at a dry cleaning company for 15 years. In Kansas City she worked for 10 years at Townley Hardware. She began a 21 year career with the U.S. Postal Service in Terry Town, New York retiring in Kansas City, Kansas and moving to Lamar in 2006.

Martha was an active member of Calla Rebeckah Lodge, Newport Needle Club, Lamar Fiber Arts Guild, and Minden Alumni Association. She had a keen interest in genealogy and enjoyed camping and cruises with her family. Martha had a gift for seeing and meeting the needs of others and will be remembered by many for her generosity and kindness. She served on the board of O.A.T.S. and donated countless hours, energy and resources to the Barton County Senior Center.

Survivors include a son, Jonathan (Kimberly) Kincaid, Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas; Sherri (Mark) Wakeman, Holden, Missouri, Katherine (Scott) Joseph, Independence, Missouri, and Marsha (Ron) Blalock, Lamar; two brothers-in-law, Charles (Marilyn) Kincaid, Independence and David (Linda) Kincaid, Lamar; a sister-in-law, Margaret (Jack) Craig, Coleman, Florida; 18 grandchildren, Tiffany Jaramillo, Jessica Kincaid, John Lee Kincaid, Amber Yvonne Kincaid, Seth Kincaid, Noah Kincaid, Tyler Wakeman, Nikki Wakeman, John Padgett, Cassaundra Kincaid, Cristine Cato, Maxwell Allen, Ron Blalock, Jr., Ryan Blalock, Ben Blalock, Violet Blalock, Marcie Darlene Blalock, and Ruby Anna Blalock; and 21 great-grandchildren, Ireland, Evan, Dayton, Natalie, Gavin, Kinleigh, Sias, Evelyn, Madison, Bailey Jo, Darla, Jack, Ryan, Katelyn, Charles, and Autumn.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 8th at Daniel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Howell Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Saturday, November 7th at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Barton County Senior Center.
