Randy E. Shellenbarger, age 62, Webb City, passed away at 1:06 p.m. Friday, November 27, 2015 at Freeman Hospital after a sudden illness.
Randy was born July 20, 1953 in Joplin to the late Forrest Shellenbarger and Evelyn Hargis Shellenbarger and was a lifetime area resident.
Randy began working for the city of Joplin in 1977. He was a police officer for Joplin from 1978-1988, then went into Communications. He retired from the city as a Code Enforcement Officer in August of this year. He is survived by his adoring wife of 40 years, Terri Shellenbarger and their two children, John Shellenbarger and Rebecca Price with her husband Darin. He has three precious grandbabies, Brooklyn Sullivan, Kennedy and Tinleigh Price.
Randy spent his life being not only an uncle but a father figure to many that know who they are. Randy's kind heart and beautiful spirit will carry on in this world through all the precious lives he has touched. His helpful heart hasn't ended with his earthly life as he chose to be an eye and tissue donor upon death. Randy had a very special spot for The Joplin Association for the Blind and his legacy will carry on through the lives he helps with his insistent donations.
Additional survivors include one brother, Mitchell Shellenbarger and his wife, Laurie; two sisters, Suzanne Teague and her husband, Roy, Joyce Teague and her husband, Ray; a sister-in-law, Tonya White and companion, Robert Edwards; and several other extended family member and many friends.
Services are planned for Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Dave Schepper will officiate. Entombment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Patrick White, Aaron Hodges, Rick Bair, Shawn Martin, Stephen Shellenbarger, Ray Teague and Keith Jennings. Memorial contributions may be made to the Joplin Association for the Blind, in care of Parker Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
