Virginia Irvin

Virginia L. (Mailes) Irvin, 85, Seneca, MO, passed into eternal rest at 8:07 am, November 23, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin after an illness.

Virginia Lee Mailes was born July 26, 1930 in Seneca, MO the daughter of Lloyd and Opal (Skaggs) Mailes. Virginia lived in Seneca most of her life. Virginia formerly worked at the Milnot Plant in Seneca. She retired from the Seneca R-7 School District after 30 plus years, where she was a Food Service Manager. Virginia was a member of the Willing Workers Club and the Seneca Church of Christ.

Virginia Lee Mailes married William (Bill) Gordon Irvin Sr. July 10, 1949 and he survives.
Additional survivors include two sons; Bill Irvin Jr and Wes Irvin and wife Nancy all of Seneca; one daughter, Shelly Hoofnagle and husband Hal, Joplin; 7 granchildren, Michael Slaughter, Lindsay Irvin, Adam Hoofnagle, Staci Hoofnagle, Michelle Lankford, Lesley Gordon and Coy Irvin; 19 great-grandchildren; Three brothers, Maurice Mailes, Seneca, Freddie Mailes, Bella Vista, AR and Olan Mailes, Neosho; two sisters, Patsy Meyer, Seneca and Aleta Platner, Neosho and a host of extended family and friends.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Opal Mailes and one brother Harold Mailes.

Funeral services under the direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca, MO will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at the Seneca Church of Christ with Jake King officiating. Burial will be in the Swars Prairie Baptist Cemetery with Michael Slaughter, Adam Hoofnagle, Coy Irvin, Josh Watson, Kyle Lankford and Mike Gordon serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at the Seneca Church of Christ.
