Phyllis Anne League, 76, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 9:43 p.m. at Mercy Hospital following an extended illness.
Phyllis was born March 10, 1939 in Baxter Springs, Kansas to the late Ancil Keeling and Mazie Vader Keeling. She graduated from Beauty School in Virginia Beach, Virginia and then owning and operating her own shop for several years in Columbus, Ohio. In years past, Phyllis worked as a manager for J.C. Penney and worked for American Red Cross for 8 years. Her greatest accomplishments were being a military wife, traveling with her husband all around the world and a loving mother to her five children.
On October 18, 1958, Phyllis married Jack T. League in Miami, Oklahoma, sharing 40 years together. He preceded her in death on February 17, 1999. Additionally, Phyllis is preceded in death by a son, Randall League and her sister, Shirley Greer.
She is survived by four daughters, Teresa Aderhold (Les) of Gravette, Arkansas, Linda Parliament (Roger) of Columbus, Ohio, Cindy Sasek (Rick) of Joplin and Patty League, also of Joplin; special daughter-in-law, Pat League of Lee Summit, Missouri; brother, Galen Grant (Penny) of Webb City; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and many loving extended family and friends.
Services are planned for Tuesday, November 24th at 10:00 a.m. in the Parker Mortuary Chapel. Family will receive friends on Monday from 6-7:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Rev. Jim Kerr will officiate.
Serving as pallbearers are Zachary Bowshier, Nick Nunamaker, Randy League, Michael Wheeler, Ryan League, Chris League and Jeff League.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to either, Arthritis Foundation or the National Parkinson's Foundation, both in care of the mortuary.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
