William “Bill” Amos Lawson, age 64, of Seligman, Missouri, passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 22, 2020. Mr. Lawson, son of Amos Antie and Beatrice Janett (Martin) Lawson, was born on December 28, 1956, in Carthage.
Bill enlisted in the Army National Guard on February 16, 1976, where he served his country proudly.
On May 21, 1977, he was united in marriage to Barbara Tate. Together with his wife Barbara they owned and operated turkey houses for twenty-five years.
He was a member of the Cassville Cruisers and was very proud of his restored 1969 Dodge Dart. Bill enjoyed hunting deer and coyotes, reloading ammo, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and his “baby girl,” his dog, Foxie. He, along with his son William “Junior,” spent countless hours racing four wheelers; Bill was his son’s biggest supporter and fan. Bill was loved by so many and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his loving wife of forty-three years, Barbara Lawson, of Seligman; two daughters, Becky Dalton and her husband Chad, of Anderson, and Janett Self and her husband Bodie, of Bentonville, Arkansas; his son, William Lawson, Jr. and his wife Sarah, of Seligman; seven grandchildren, Emitt and Brett Dalton, Connor and Hailey Self, and Trey, Shelby, and Greyson Lawson; four sisters, Eva Phelps, of Avilla, Peggy Kelley and her husband George, of Exeter, Vickie Rogers and her husband Bill, of Elkins, Arkansas, Melissa Sarrgent and her husband Rick, of Carterville; one aunt, Eula Bess, of Masa, Arizona; one uncle, Charles Stark and his wife Linda, of Champagne, Illinois; one sister-in-law, Peggy Handy and her husband Bill, of Gentry, Arkansas; three brothers-in-law, Jimmy Tate, Danny Tate and his wife Sherry, all of Seligman, and Bobby Tate and his wife Shaylene, of Wheaton; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by one brother, Amos Anthony Lawson, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2020, at the White Funeral Home and Crematory, Cassville, with Pastor Ken West officiating; burial to follow at King Cemetery, Seligman. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 24th at the funeral home.
