Charles Earnest Gideon, 82, of Pineville, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at his residence.
He was born on October 8, 1937 in Vinita, Oklahoma, to the late Wallace Harlan and Ava Augusta (Johnson) Gideon.
Charles worked as an Activities Director for the Bowen Center in Harrisburg, Illinois and for the Educational Opportunity center in Crowder College. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Illinois; enjoyed golf and was an avid dart player. Charles has spent his later years on the farm, where he raised cows and had a vegetable garden. Charles will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was a very social person and was always there to help everyone.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Laura Gideon; a grandson, Jacob Gideon Sweat.
Charles is survived by his daughter, Cathi Sweat (Jim) of Coweta, Oklahoma; brother, James Robert Gideon (Beverly) of Corpus Christi, Texas; sisters-in-law, Thursa Plumlee and Bonnie Price both of Rogers, Arkansas; grandchildren, Nathan Sweat and Chelsea Threadgill (Ben); great grandchildren, Ava and Winston Sweat, Grayson and Millie Threadgill; nephews, Jeff, Jeremy and Josh; as well as a host of family and friends who will dearly miss Charles.
A celebration of life for Charles Gideon will be held by his family at a later date. Memorial contributions may be given to the Crowder College Foundation, 601 Laclede Avenue, Neosho, Missouri 64850 or the McDonald County Living Center Resident Fund, 1000 Patterson Street, Anderson, Missouri 64856.
