James Clayton “Jim” Arthur, age 83 of Joplin, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at his home, following an illness.
Jim was born on February 26, 1937 in Pineville, Louisiana, the son of the late Harold E. and Goldie Lucille (Moore) Arthur. He served in the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Korean War.
He married Patricia Harmon on September 1, 1970 in New Orleans, LA. Together they enjoyed almost fifty years of marriage. Jim was known to be a bit of a dare devil. He spoke often of how he loved to go skydiving. He had his pilot’s license and he liked to fly.
Jim is survived by his wife Patricia “Pat” Arthur, Joplin, MO; two sisters, Donna Cunningham, Rogers, AR, and Deanie Finley, Miami, OK; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Betty McKenzie and Jean Cole.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
