Eldon Lee McCracken, 82, of Monett, MO, passed from this life on Thursday evening, July 16, 2020, while at the Truman Healthcare and Rehab Center in Lamar, MO, with family at his side.
Eldon was born on October 15, 1937 in Butterfield, MO, son of the late Floyd McCracken and Mayme (McGuire) McCracken. Eldon began his working years at the MFA Feed Mill in Aurora prior to being a hay hauler and wood cutter. He then began the McCracken Fence Co. before finally starting McCracken and Sons Backhoe Service, which he operated for over fifteen years. Eldon was a member of the Monett Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed antiquing and going to flea markets. His greatest joy in life was being with his family, especially his grandchildren.
On December 14, 1957, in Monett, Eldon married Marolyn Lorena Culver. To this union five children were born. They were blessed with almost fifty years of wonderful memories made together until her passing on June 13, 2007.
Additionally, Eldon was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and Danny McCracken; and one sister, Ruby Betterton.
Eldon is survived by his sons, Richard McCracken and wife Bonnie, and Marvin McCracken and wife Lori, all of Monett; his daughters, Sherry Gorman, of Cleveland, MO, Latricia Gryder and husband Leland, of Monett and Nina White and husband Gary, of Lamar; twenty four grandchildren; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Funeral services for Mr. McCracken will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at Buchanan Funeral Home with Reverend Chris Carver officiating. Interment will follow at the Arnhart Cemetery, Purdy. Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the McCracken Family to help with expenses.
