She was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Juanita Rector, Donna Riddle, 2 brothers, Albert Everitt, and a son in law, Mark D. Moore.
Maxine was born in Webb City, Missouri on January 7, 1932 to Mr. Harry Ray and Mrs. Elizabeth May Everitt. After marrying Gene on March 27, 1947 she threw her energy into raising their 2 children. They moved to Los Angeles, California in 1954 where she began a career at Maywood Hospital and Gene pursued a career with the carpenters union. While in California she enjoyed walks on and trips to the beach.
Life changes happened and she and her family moved to Carthage in 1969. Surrounded by her family she called Carthage home. She worked various jobs before pursuing a career at McCune Brooks and retiring in 1997. Maxine was a very passionate flower gardener who was blessed with 2 green thumbs. Plants and animals were her life. Only second to her large family.
She had a knack for collecting unusual rocks and solving hundred if not thousands of crossword puzzles. She was an avid bingo player and loved long talks over coffee. “Mrs. Priss” always looking her absolute best, could often be found on her front porch swing enjoying the company of her cats, Buddy and Bossy. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, and grandmother whose greatest passion was helping others.
Private services will be held at a later date.
