Francis E. “Papa Buddy” Howard, 86, Joplin, MO entered into rest July 24, 2020. He was born December 15, 1933 in Redings Mill, MO to Alice (Motley) and Jess Howard. Francis served in the US Army and worked as a supervisor at Eagle Picher.
He and Vera Charlton were married Sept. 1, 1951 in Goodman, MO; she survives of the home.
Francis loved hunting and fishing, Cardinals baseball, and greatly loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Marcy Crawmer and husband, Jim of Neosho, Rita Kittell of Bowling Green, KY, Leonard Howard and wife, Carol of Miami, OK, Joyce Davis and husband, Steve of Neosho, and Cheryl Peters and husband, Dan of Neosho; one sister, Beulah Letts of Goodman, MO; fourteen grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Heather Dawn Crawmer; six brothers, Lee, Fred, Jess Jr., Don, Bob, and Gary; and three sisters, Leona, Hazel, and Lola.
Services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Faith Assembly of God Church, 7211 E. 32nd St., Joplin, MO with a time of visitation beginning at 9:00 am. Pastor Grant Curtis will officiate. Interment will follow at Neosho Memorial Park Cemetery in Neosho, MO with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
