Jessica Jean Batie, age 17, Carthage, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2020 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident East of Joplin.
Jessica was born January 8, 2003 in Joplin and was a lifetime area resident. Jessica had attended Carthage schools and was currently set to begin her senior year at Carl Junction High School next month. She was currently working as a sales representative at CST.
Jessica is survived by her mother, Kelly Batie; father, Shayne Batie; siblings, Makayla Hood, Marika Batie, Baron Jones, Sadie Batie, Dylan Batie, Kamryn Colburn, Mallory Colburn, Delaney Colburn; her special foster parents, Kevin and Stephanie Colburn; her boyfriend, Jonathan Mendoza; and several grandparents; aunts; uncles; cousins and extended family members.
Jessica was a typical teenager. She was very athletic. She ran track and played volleyball. She loved butterflies; making Tik-Tok videos; playing pranks on her siblings; going fishing and acting goofy. She was a proven leader and had a knack for solving problems. She loved animals-hedgehog's in particular. Jessica was a loving person that will be missed by everyone that knew her.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at One Church Joplin. Private family graveside services will be held at Park Cemetery, Carthage.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
