Doris L. Scribner, 77, passed into eternal rest at 11:32am July 13, 2020 at her home in Seneca surrounded by her family.
Doris Lorene Cummings was born October 2, 1942 in McDonald County, MO the daughter of Henry Virgil and Desta Viola (Bennett) Cummings. She went to school in Hart, MO and later in Seneca, MO.
She became a certified dietary manager and was the first employee of the Seneca House Nursing Home. Doris worked there 15 years and then retired. Doris enjoyed cooking for her family. Everyone knew her for her homemade pies and cinnamon rolls. She was a seamstress and could make clothes even without a pattern. She enjoyed doing crafts and she taught herself how to play the piano.
Doris loved life and enjoyed playing jokes on her family even up to the last week of her life. Her family was number one thing in her life besides the love of God. Nothing made her happier than being surrounded by her husband, Kids and grandchildren. She helped her husband the love of her life pastor in several area churches for over 45 years. She was loved by many and will be missed by all. But we will “Keep on Keeping on” until we met again. Doris was a member of the Goodman Full Gospel Church.
Doris Lorene Cummings married Roy Scribner May 26, 1958 in Miami, OK and he survives.
Additional survivors include; one son, Doug Scribner and wife Cathy, Seneca; two daughters, Tammy Sherwood and husband Virgil and Kim Friend and husband Lance all of Seneca; two brothers, Gary Cummings, Seneca and Bill Cummings, Miami; three sisters, Carolyn Yocum, Seneca, Virgie Curtis, Miami and Geraldine Plummer, Owasso; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, D. Edward Cummings and Donald Eugene Cummings.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 pm, Thursday, July 16th at the Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, July 17th at the Seneca Assembly of God with Virgil Sherwood and Bruce Wolfenbarger officiating. Burial will be in the Seneca Cemetery with Adam Scribner, Blake Scribner, Lane Scribner, Joshua Sherwood, Levi Evans and Clay Weldon serving as pallbearers.
