Peggy Baker

Peggy Jo Baker, age 81, Joplin, passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at her home with family at her side.

Peggy was born March 12, 1940 in Butler, Missouri, daughter of the late Cletis Deardorff and Gladys (Halcomb) Deardorff. She graduated from Butler High School, and later earned her degree as a Beautician. She owned and operated her hair care business, Kurl-n-Swirl for several years, while also managing accounts and bookkeeping for Baker’s Towing Service. She was a longtime member of Reinmiller Baptist Church, and enjoyed gardening and collecting Victorian Antiques.








In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Dale H. Baker; grandson, Ryan Baker and granddaughter, Shelby Shumaker; infant sister, Debra Ann Deardorff; and her brother, Jerry Deardorff.

Survivors include her children, Steven Dale Baker and wife Tammy of Joplin, Jerry D. Baker and wife Terri of Diamond, Missouri, and Cindy Jo DeBoer and husband Dustin of Joplin; grandchildren, Jason Baker and Mary Jane, Dustin DeBoer, II, Jessica DeBoer, Kaylee DeBoer, Ethan DeBoer, Jaden DeBoer, and Kelsey Shumaker; great-grandchildren, Rylee Baker, Eirik Baker, Torben Baker, and Steven James Baker.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Al Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Saginaw Cemetery with family serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Monday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
