Claude Elvin Best of Fairland, OK passed from this life Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Family Care Center in Fairland, OK. He was 91.
Claude was born October 5, 1927 in Douthat, OK to Carol and Era (Hopper) Best. He grew up in Picher and moved to Miami in 1955. In 1959 he moved to Fairland and has resided there since. He graduated from Picher High School Class of 1946 and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the USS Diess. Claude worked for B.F. Goodrich for 39 ½ years as a heavy duty truck tire inspector . He was a member of the Methodist Church and United Rubber Workers Union.
Claude was preceded by his wife LaVaughn (Anderson) Best January 31, 2012, his parents, siblings Earl Cobb and Louise Cobb Curlee and a great grandson.
Survivors include 2 sons Claude Erwin Best and wife Lisa of Fairland, OK, Michael Best and wife Michelle of Joplin, MO, 2 daughters Sandy Reynolds and husband David of Fairland, OK and Annette McGuire and husband Ray of Fairland, OK, 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday, December 17, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, OK. Rev. Steve Johnson will officiate. Interment will be in Fairland Cemetery in Fairland, OK. Ray McGuire, Jacob McGuire, Michael Best II, Jeff Alleman, Gary Farris, Rodney Reynolds and Jeff Reynolds will serve as pallbearers. Danny Garner and Gayle Black will serve as honorary pallbearers. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post # 147 Funeral Detail and Motorcycle escort by Covenant Motorcycle Ministry Chapter 702. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 15, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, OK.
