Sandra Jeanette Stanbery entered into rest on December 10, 2018 at her home in Granby, following a three year illness.
Sandra was born October 4, 1958 in El Paso, Texas to Walter and Shirley Weinand, while her dad was serving in the U.S. Army. They moved to Troy, Missouri. Sandra gave her heart to God as a child and lived for God. She attended Troy schools until the 8th grade and then attended Independence Bible School in Independence for her high school education. She graduated from St. Mary’s College in O’Fallon, Missouri. Sandra worked as a medical transcriber for over 20 years in two hospitals and at home. She was a medical coder for seven years in a hospital and doctor’s office. She even worked a short while as a lawyer’s secretary. She taught at Vatterott College in the medical assisting program for the last seven years.
Prior to her marriage, Sandra served as secretary of the Troy Holiness Camp. Sandra played the piano and the flute for the church after her marriage. She and her husband, Kerry spent 20 years helping at Ochelata Youth Camp. Sandra enjoyed spending time with her family and they took vacations for several years which she greatly enjoyed. Sandra served as the secretary of the Southwest Missouri Church district, she served as secretary of the Old Country Church Broadcast, Secretary and Manager of the Twin Oaks Senior Apartments while living in Granby, she was a faithful supporter and worker with the Granby Volunteer Fire Department and she would play the piano whenever she was asked. Sandra was a member of Granby Holiness church where she had served as secretary from May, 1983 until her death.
Sandra and Kerry Stanbery were married on February 19, 1983 at Troy, Missouri and he survives. She is additionally survived by two sons, Eric Stanbery and wife, Heather of New Philadelphia, OH and Justin Stanbery and wife, Shari of Diamond; two granddaughters, Alexis and Amanda Fliger; her mother, Shirley Weinand of Troy, MO; one brother, Kevin Weinand and wife, Teresa of Troy, MO; two sisters, Amy Carpio of O’Fallon, MO and Karla Fliger of Kansas City, KS; brother in law and sister in law, David Stanbery and wife, Lisa of Granby and numerous other family. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, her father, Walter, father in law and mother in law, Ralph and Phyllis Stanbery and a niece, Ashley Fliger.
Funeral services will be Friday, December 14, 2018 at 10 am at the Clark Funeral Home in Granby, Joe Davolt and Albert Schaper will officiate. Interment will follow in the Van Buren (Black Fox) Cemetery. Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home, Granby on Thursday from 5:30-7 pm at the Clark Funeral Home, Granby.
