John Eden

John William Eden, age 66, of Monett, MO died on Friday, July 10, 2020 at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, MO. Mr. Eden was born in Joplin, MO on Monday, January 04, 1954. He was the son of William and Ella (Steineweg) Eden. He graduated from Monett High School in 1972. 

Mr. Eden married Kathy Murray on Friday, September 22, 1995 in Eureka Springs, MO. 

Mr. Eden spent many years as an educator and working with computers. He worked as the Technology Director at Cassville Schools and then moved into the classroom teaching Computer Maintenance and Networking at Southwest Regional Technical Center (SRTC) in Monett, MO. Mr. Eden went to work a couple of years at WTI in Joplin, MO before returning to SRTC to teach again. 








Mr. Eden enjoyed lake trips, Shrine, co-workers, cold beer, and sweets. He was a member of Decatur Lodge #400 AF & AM in Pierce City, MO, Abou Ben Adem Shrine Temple in Springfield, MO, and the Valley of Joplin Scottish Rites. He was the District Deputy Grand Lecturer for the 44th Masonic District over four years. Mr. Eden was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. He loved tailgating and watching the games. He was able to attend the Super Bowl in February 2020 where the Chiefs won!

Surviving are the following: his wife, Kathy of the home; three daughters, Harmony Fritz of Webb City, MO, Heather Grantland of Athens, AL, and Delann Eden of Monett, MO; one brother, Jack Eden of Janesville, WI; and five grandchildren, Trentin Rickman of Athens, AL, Madilyn Fritz of Webb City, MO; Henry Grantland of Athens, AL, Elenor Grantland of Athens, AL; and Iris Eden of Monett, MO.

Friends may call at Lakin Funeral Home from 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM on Tuesday, July 14, 2020. There will be a Masonic Service at the Howdy Neighbor Day Lodge Pavilion in Pierce City, MO on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at 7:30 PM. This will be followed by a time of sharing memories of John. Visitation and social hour will continue until 9:00 PM. Feel free to bring your favorite beverage. John was an avid football fan. He would want everyone to wear football attire (preferably the Kansas City Chiefs). A private burial will occur at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriner's Hospital in care of the funeral home.
