Baylee Shorter

(From Parker Mortuary)

Baylee Christina Shorter, 24, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away suddenly on Thursday evening, July 16, 2020, from injuries sustained in an accident.

Baylee was born March 4, 1996, in Joplin, Missouri, to David and Cathi (Williams) Evans. She was a 2014 graduate of Webb City High School. Baylee loved to shop and spent most of her time and money at Ross.

She had a personality larger than life, a smile that was constant and infectious, a hysterical laugh, and a love of giving others a hard time. Baylee was the family jokester and enjoyed making others laugh at their expense. She had an enormous heart of gold and was generous to a fault.

Baylee worked at Wildwood Senior Living in the culinary department and she cherished her connection with each resident there. Baylee had a servant’s heart and truly looked forward to caring for her “kids” at Wildwood.

On September 23, 2015, Baylee married the love of her life, Timothy Shorter, and together they had a son, Zayden James (2). Zayden was Baylee’s entire world and she loved him beyond compare. The best role she filled in life was being a mother. Tim and Baylee were expecting and excited to expand their family; they believed in their hearts it was a baby girl and they had named her Zariah Rayne. Love was always important to Baylee – she loved her family and friends unconditionally. Her passing has left an unfillable hole in the hearts of many and she will be greatly missed.

Baylee was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Paul “PeePaw” Poulson; paternal grandparents, Claude and Mildred Hartje; aunt and uncle, Christi and Larry “LaLa” Brockway; and her great-grandparents, Carl “Cappy” and Yvonee “Granny” Capp and Muriel “Toots” and Mable Tunnell.

She is lovingly survived by her husband, Timothy, of Carthage; her son and “Perfect Angel”, Zayden; her mother, Cathi Evans, of Joplin; her father, David Evans, and his wife, Karen, of Joplin; two sisters, Brooke Evans and fiancĂ©, Tre Miksell, of Carl Junction and Breanna Dobbins of Joplin; two nephews, whom she adored, Noah and Liam; maternal grandmother, Vi “Grammie” Poulson, of Joplin; aunt and uncle, Cari and John Long, of Webb City; close cousins, Steve and Jessica Howard, Shirley Austin, Rick and Pam Tunnell, Jessica Brown, Debbie Howard and Kaylee Dorsey; mother-in-law, Charlene Shorter of Beebe, Arkansas; father-in-law, Lee Shorter, of Vicksburg, Mississippi; best friends, MaKayla Suter and Leslie Shorter; Tim’s brothers and sisters; as well as a host of other cousins, extended family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at Grace Church of Joplin with Pastor Gary Garrett officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Parker Mortuary in Joplin. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made payable to Parker Mortuary.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
