Ronald Morey

Ronald Allen Morey, 73, of Joplin, Missouri and the Oakley, Illinois area passed away on July 21, 2020 in the Joplin Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born March 21, 1947 Decatur, Illinois to Hilda Spaulding and Donald Harold Morey. 

In 1965 he graduated from Cerro Gordo High School and then he proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a hospital corpsman. 

He was a retired locomotive engineer for the Norfolk and Southern. Also, a member of the Cerro Gordo Brethren Church.








Surviving are his wife, Barbara, children; Robbin Smith of Florida, Jay (Lorinda) Damery of Mt. Zion, Blake Morey, Tanya Haenny-Ya of Urbana and Melissa Frye of Decatur. Grandchildren Michael Mrotzek, Celene Damery Trimble, Sean, Ashley, Austin, and Alyssa Smith, Emma Lacefield, and Everett Frye, along with three great grandchildren. Sisters; Connie Nance of Joplin, Christine (Dean) Jimison of Cerro Gordo, and Theresa (Darrell) Kraft of Dalton City. Brothers, Max (Linda) Born of Cerro Gordo, Jerry (Dorothy) Born, and Fred Born of Decatur.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Donald Harold Morey Jr, and his sister Bonnie Edwards.

Graveside services to celebrate Ronnie’s life will be held as Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, on Friday, August 7, 2020 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Terry Leach Officiating.

Professional services have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory, Joplin, Missouri.
