Gloria Gene Downing, age 76, Webb City, Missouri, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2020 at her home.
Gloria was born July 4, 1944 in Kansas City, Missouri, daughter of the late James E. Colvin and Juanita M. Dailey Colvin. She graduated from Joplin High School in 1962, and married Joe T. Downing on March 28, 1965 in Joplin, he survives.
They owned and operated Downing Glass for nearly 20 years. She then became an interior decorator. She moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 2001 where she continued designing and faux painting in Tulsa, Fayetteville, and Joplin, before returning to Joplin in 2016.
In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her sister, Sandy Hight.
In addition to Joe, she is survived by her son, Justin James Downing of Carthage; her daughter, Troby Jo Thompson of Joplin; grandchildren, Trevor Thompson, Dustin Smith, Colton Smith, Dalton Cossey, Austin Cossey, and Caitin Smith; her brother, David Colvin and wife Claudine of Springfield, Missouri; nieces and nephews, Carri Colvin, Chanse Colvin and wife Jessie, Kevin Hight, and Jeff Hight.
A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2020 from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
