Jeannette Isaac

Jeannette Isaac, age 97, of Joplin, Mo, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at a local nursing home. Mrs. Isaac, daughter of the late Sherman and Dora (Stowe) Markum, was born on January 29, 1923 in Springfield, MO. 

In Springfield in 1942, she was united in marriage to Mark Isaac, who proceeded her in death in 2004 after 62 years of marriage.

She first attended Sharon Baptist Church in Wichita, KS, where she became a Christian and then taught Sunday School for many years. Of late, she was a charter member of Southgate Baptist Church in Springfield, Mo.

She loved cooking for family and friends, as well as gardening, even raising her own Peace roses, of which she was especially fond. She frequently served as a care-giver for neighbors, friends, and family members. In addition, in her later years, she volunteered at the Grand Oaks Baptist Mission in Springfield, MO. 








Survivors include her son, Wayne Isaac and his wife Mary Ellen of Cleveland, Oh., a daughter, Kathy McGowan and her husband Phil of Joplin, Mo., a sister, Mary Evans of Springfield, Mo., Five grandchildren, Tracy Hopper of AR, Abbey Isaac-Worden of KS, Andrew McGowan of MO, Jennifer Miller of OH, and Rebecca Walters of Mo, and seven great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and her husband she was proceeded in death by two sisters, Josephine Waddell and Sarah Evans.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at 10:00 am at the Maple Park Cemetery in Springfield, with Rex Wakefield officiating. The family will receive friends and family for a time of visitation on Tuesday, July 21st from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary in Joplin.

Memorial contributions may be given in lieu of flowers to Grand Oaks Baptist Mission Center in care of the mortuary.
