Mary Lou Shaddox

(From Ozark Funeral Home)

Mrs. Mary Lou Shaddox, 77, of Jane, Missouri, departed this life on Thursday afternoon, July 23, 2020, in the comfort of her daughter’s home in Bella Vista, Arkansas, with her loving family by her side.

Mary Lou entered this life on August 30, 1942, in Powell, Missouri, born to the union of the late Charles Clayton and Sadie Mae (Dishon) Jones. She was raised in Powell, Missouri and was a 1960 graduate of Rocky Comfort High School. She was a lifelong resident of McDonald County. Mary Lou loved people and had a heart for service.

She was elected McDonald County Treasurer in 1982 and served a total of six four-year terms. During that time she also served as Administrator of the McDonald County Health Department, retiring in 2007 with twenty-five years of combined county service. Prior to holding public office, she was employed by McDonald County Bank. She also worked for many years at Chick’s Station, and then owned and managed Chick’s Convenience Store.

She was a very devoted mother and Grannie, and was active in all of her kids’ and grandkids’ sports and activities. She loved taking her family and friends out to eat a good meal (always insisting to pay for the bill). She also loved to watch and cheer for her favorite teams: the St. Louis Cardinals and the Arkansas Razorbacks, as well as going to watch Lady Mustang Softball. She was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Jane, Missouri, and was a devoted follower of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a prayer warrior and a constant source of encouragement and inspiration to countless people over the years through writing cards, liking and commenting on Facebook posts, giving big hugs and kisses, and being a listening ear or shoulder to cry on. She was a blessing to everyone who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Pauline Jones; a sister, Shirley Williams; daughter-in-law, Kathy Shaddox; and a grandson, Jacob Taylor.

Mary Lou is survived by her three children, Tray Shaddox and wife, Tammy, of St. Stephens Church, Virginia, Shelli Sullivan of Anderson, Missouri, and Stacey Taylor of Bella Vista, Arkansas; nine grandchildren, Steven, Michael, Sarah, Trey, Sadie, Cord, Curtis, Joshua and Sydney; twelve great grandchildren; a brother, Bill Jones and wife, Janice, of Belton, Missouri; two nephews, Mike Jones and wife, Wendy, of Rogers, Arkansas and Billy Jones and wife, Miranda of Dike, Iowa; two nieces, Cheryl Pardoe and husband, Michael, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Angela Willey and husband, Bill, of Cleveland, Missouri; and was a second mom and Grannie to many others.
