Dorothy Barnes

Dorothy Ellen Barnes, 88, Neosho, MO entered into eternal rest July 25, 2020 at her home. She was born May 4, 1932 in Gashland, MO to Mabel Ellen (McGee) and Louis N. Crawford. 

Dorothy was a licensed minister with the Pentecostal Church of God. She and her husband served as missionaries in the Philippines, founding Mindanao Bible Institute and many churches there. She served for forty-two years at Ozark Christian Schools as a teacher at Ozark Christian Academy, an instructor at Ozark Bible Institute, and Ladies Dorm Supervisor. She loved teaching, being a dorm mother, and supporting missionary work. Dorothy was a member of the Bible Holiness Assembly of God Church in Neosho.

 She married Clarence Lee Barnes on May 30, 1954, in Sedalia, MO; Clarence passed away October 31, 1970. 








Dorothy is survived by her children, David Lee Barnes and wife, Sandy, of San Antonio, TX, Sheryl Kay Spencer and husband, Mike, of Minden, MO, Daniel Ray Barnes and wife, Glynis, of Amarillo, TX, Sandra Renee Hurst and husband, Clifford, of Englewood, OH, and Paul Kevin Barnes and wife, Jean, of Punta Gorda, FL; three brothers, Raymond Crawford of Ft. Worth, TX, Donald Crawford of Burlington, IA, and George Crawford of Springfield, MO; fifteen grandchildren; and twenty-seven great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Services will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, July 30, 2020, at Bible Holiness Assembly of God Church, 614 N. High St, Neosho, MO, with Brother Danny Taylor officiating. A time of visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 pm until service time. Interment will follow at Hazelgreen Cemetery, Boulder City, MO. 

Paul Barnes, Andrew Hurst, Jeremy Barnes, Gavin Edwards, Caleb Dowdy, and Jason Barnes will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Dorothy Barnes Scholarship Fund at OBI or to the Bible Holiness Building Fund, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66; Neosho, MO 64850.
