Earl Barker

Jameson “Earl” Barker, 87, went to his heavenly home on July 18, 2020. He was born on August 29, 1932 in Oronogo, Missouri, the son of Hollis and Hazel Barker and Dewey and Mary Sweezy. He attended Reeds, Missouri Schools. 

He married Alta Jane Stark on January 14, 1951 in Carthage, Missouri. He worked for 14 years at Steadley, then owned and operated his own business Carthage Home Heating and Air for 20 plus years, and Simpson Sheet Metal for 21 years. 

He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, where he was involved in several work and witness, he served on the church board, and drove the church bus for many years. He enjoyed and spent many hours following and supporting his grandchildren and great grandchildren in many activities. 








Survivors include his wife of 69 years Alta; three daughters, Patty Witt and husband Richard, Mary Pugh, and Beth Whitehead and husband Allen, all of Carthage, Missouri; four sisters, Barbara Taylor, Peggy Mullins and husband Joe, Phyllis Thorton and husband George, Carol Schriber; brother, Junior Barker and wife Beverly; grandchildren, Aaron Johnson, Jamie Witt and wife Amanda, Sarah Hunter and husband Harvell, Allison Morgan and husband Everett, Chad Pugh, Blake Pugh, Zach Whitehead, Matt Whitehead and wife Stephanie; great grandchildren, Cameron Stripling and husband Nathan, Caitlin Witt, DJ Witt, Darrin Witt, EJ Morgan, Tyesha Morgan, Jaydon Morgan, Langston Morgan, Corben Pugh, Paige Pugh, Chris Pugh, Skylar Pugh, Alexia Pugh, Hannah Whitehead, Michael Whitehead, Clayton Whitehead, Lauren Whitehead, Kinley Whitehead, Blakely Johnson, Chance Johnson and wife Suzanne, and Josie Johnson; great-great grandchildren Peyton Tift, Marci Stripling, Raiden Johnson, and Olivia Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Jameson Earl Barker, Jr., a brother, Arthur Barker, and a sister, Helen.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at the First Church of the Nazarene Carthage, Missouri. Visitation will be held for 6:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at First Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow in the Hackney Cemetery, Carthage, Missouri.
