Eugene Smith

Eugene Smith, age 81, of Neosho, Missouri, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022, at his home. He was born August 5, 1940, in Vian, Oklahoma, to Nada (Cupp) Smith. 

On October 2, 1964, he married Catherine (Priest) Smith, in Pierce City, Missouri.

Eugene graduated from Vian Oklahoma High School, and he attended college at Conner College and Northeastern Oklahoma College, Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He was a Neosho High School Geometry teacher, owned a lawn care business for over 20 years, and was a Neosho school bus driver. 








He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Neosho, Missouri. He was a member of the Missouri State Teachers Association and was a Who’s Who Award High School teacher. He was a reserve Deputy for Newton County, Missouri for over 15 years, and City of Neosho reserve for five years.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine, of the home, three children, Bret and his wife Kris, Neosho, Missouri, Ami and her husband Mike Garner, Granby, Missouri, and Grant Smith, Neosho, Missouri, brothers, Woody and wife Evelyn Crowson, Oolagah, Oklahoma, Dale Crowson, Salisaw, Oklahoma, Frank Crowson, Benton, Arkansas, sisters, Pearline Snow, Monett, Missouri, Pauline and husband Monte Horn, Salisaw, Oklahoma, Christine and husband Jimmie Williams, Salisaw, Oklahoma, Jenny and husband David Lucas, Gallatin, Tennessee, and Gail and husband Pete Flood, of Lakeland, Florida, seven grandchildren, Dustin Smith and wife Kasi, Megin and husband Chad Oxford, Bayli Judd, Gavin Smith, Grace Box, Devon Smith and Trevor Box, three great-grandchildren, Emma Jo Smith, Easton Oxford and Harper Oxford.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert and Jack Crowson, and a sister, Wanda Matevia, and grandson, Jason Box.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. with the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Clark Funeral Home Chapel, Neosho, with burial at Van Buren Cemetery, Wentworth, Missouri.
