Warren Clugston

Warren C. Clugston, 93, of Cherokee, Kansas passed away at 8:25 a.m. Friday, January 28, 2022 at his daughter’s home in Joplin, Missouri.

He was born December 5, 1928 at Cherokee, Kansas, to Shannon Cleveland and Winifred (McCants) Clugston. He attended schools in Cherokee and graduated from Crawford County Rural High School in Cherokee.

On March 25, 1951, he was united in marriage to Deloris Ann Mason at the Cherokee United Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on January 23, 2011. 








On July 22, 2011, he married Margarette Beasley in Pittsburg. She preceded him in death on November 13, 2021.

Mr. Clugston worked for B.F. Goodrich in Miami, Oklahoma for thirty-two years, retiring in 1986. He also farmed and raised cattle

Membership was held in the Cherokee United Methodist Church, Cherokee Ruitan Club, and United Rubber Workers. He also delivered Meals on Wheels with his wife for many years.

Survivors include four daughters, Vicki Clugston of Joplin, Missouri, Kathi Thompson and her husband, Dale of Cherokee, Kansas, Connie Jeffrey and her husband, Jim of Ozark, Missouri, and Sheri Barnett and her husband, Pat of Clearwater, Kansas; Ten grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, three brothers, Frank, Chester, and Billie Clugston; a sister, Winogene Conover; three half-brothers, George, Robert, and Don Clugston; and a half-sister, Carol Ober.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 1) at the Brenner Mortuary with Rev. Lyndsey Clarke officiating. Burial will follow in the Cherokee City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the Brenner Mortuary, where friends may call after 1:00 p.m. to sign the register book. The family suggests memorials to the Cherokee United Methodist Church. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762.
