Howard Westhoff

Howard S. Westhoff, 78, of Parsons, passed away at 11:30 a.m., Sunday, January 23, 2022, at Good Samaritan Society in Wamego.

Howard Sylvester Westhoff was born on February 7, 1943, to Sylvester Albert and Cecilia Ann (Sevart) Westhoff in Walnut, Kansas. He grew up and attended rural country schools in Walnut, graduating from St. Paul High School in 1961.






 

He lived in St. Paul until moving to Parsons in 1975, where he had lived since. Most of his life he worked as a carpenter.

A lifelong Catholic, Howard was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, until it closed and was currently a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. A talented carpenter, he enjoyed woodworking.

On May 29, 1965, Howard and Barbara M. Gale were united in marriage at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Parsons. She survives of the home.

Dale W. Westhoff of Parsons, Kansas

Two daughters – Donna M. Westhoff (David Haskew) of Parsons, Kansas

Diana L. Mosley (Justin) of Newtonia, Missouri

Seven grandchildren

Nine great-grandchildren

Four brothers – Jack Westhoff (Mickey) of Belton, Missouri

Jim Westhoff (Wilma) of Chanute, Kansas

Raymond Westhoff (Candy) of Girard, Kansas

Harold Westhoff (Tina) of rural St. Paul, Kansas

Five sisters – Sylvia McKinney (Jerry) of Parsons, Kansas

Mary Frances Jones of Nevada, Missouri

Virginia Noose (Joe) of Columbia, Missouri

Ruthie Snodgrass (Steve) of Asbury, Missouri

Alice Shaffer (Jesse) of McCune, Kansas

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob Westhoff, and Chuck Westhoff and his wife, Betty; and one sister, Loretta Nance.

The funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 28, 2022, at St. Patrick Catholic School Gymnasium. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Parsons. The rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons. The family will receive friends following the rosary.

Memorials are suggested to the children’s charity of the donor’s choice. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
