Jim Nothnagel

James A. Nothnagel, age 76, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Joplin Health and Rehabilitation.

James, son of the late Delmar and Bertha (Keokpe) Nothnagel, was born on July 18, 1945 in Webb City, MO. He graduated from Seneca High School and went to Technical School in Dallas, TX. He worked for Schreibers in Carthage, MO and later Leggett-Platt of Carthage. He was a member of Christ’s Community United Methodist Church, and served in the United States Army from 1964 – 1967.






 

He returned to Joplin in 1984, and on December 12, 1986 he married Twila Dee Kelley in Miami, OK. After 20 years together, Twila passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at Freeman West Hospital. James then remarried Beverly Jones in May of 2010 in McClelland Park. Together they shared 11 years before James’s passing. He enjoyed camping and fishing.

In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by one sister and brother, Mildred Holland and Everett Nothnagel.

James is survived by his wife, Beverly Pippin-Nothnagel; two daughters, Rhonda Lewis and Tonya Brown; two sons, Larry D. Ross and David R. Fry; granddaughter, Lacey Jordan; nephews, Kevin and Lee Nothnagel; one brother, Carl Nothnagel; one sister, Pat Beard; and a host of extended family and friends.

Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Cremation arrangements are under the special care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
