Ron Blizzard

Ronald “Ron” Brent Blizzard, age 71, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin.

Ron was born February 8, 1950 to the late union of Roy and Georgia (Greer) Blizzard. He attended and graduated from Joplin High School in 1968. 

On April 12, 1974 he married the love of his life, Sandy Burrington, at Blendville Christian Church in Joplin, Missouri. 








After High School he attended Ozark Christian College for four years before transferring to Missouri Southern State College, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education in 1977. He worked at St. John’s Hospital for over 18 years. 

After St. John’s he worked at Walmart as a cashier and greeter, where he enjoyed bringing that warm smile to people as they walked in the door. He was incredible at trivia and loved watching Jeopardy. He was a deacon at Villa Heights Christian Church and Blendville Christian Church for many years. He loved watching movies and occasionally fishing. 

Ron loved playing the violin at weddings and the Living Christmas Tree at Ozark Christian College. He also taught violin whenever people wanted to learn. He enjoyed babysitting his grandchildren and spending time with family in general.

Ron is survived by his wife, Sandy; sons, Brent (Denea) Blizzard and Travis Blizzard; three grandchildren, Alexandria, Rowen, and Ellyse; brother, Roy Burton Blizzard Jr.; along with a host of extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made out to Villa Heights Christian Church.

Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Villa Heights Christian Church with Pastor Steve Bycorft officiating.

Cremation arrangements are under the special care of Parker Mortuary.
