(From Parker Mortuary)Vernon Martin Gaston, age 63, Carl Junction, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022 at his home.
Vern was born September 30, 1958 in Joplin, son of the late Larry Roget Gaston who passed in 2000, and Peggy Marie (McCorkle) Gaston of Carl Junction.
Vern grew up in Carl Junction where he graduated from Carl Junction High School in 1976 before joining the United States Marine Corps where he served as a dedicated and proud Marine for eight years.
He worked most of his adult life in construction, mainly as a painter working in the Branson area for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends being outdoors, fishing or collecting arrowheads.
In addition to his mother, Peggy, Vern is survived by his sister, Brenda Moore of Joplin; niece, Patti Knight and husband John of Des Moines, Iowa; nephews, Dustin Moore and wife Trisha of Owasso, Oklahoma, and Brendan Moore and wife Lindsey of Webb City and their families.
Interment of his ashes will be at a later date with graveside services in Carl Junction Cemetery with Military Honors.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
