Joe Killingsworth

(From Greenfield Funeral Chapel)

Joe Harold Killingsworth, age 83, went to his eternal home on April 8, 2023. He was born at his family home in Greenfield, MO to parents Leonard and Alpha Killingsworth on February 28, 1940.

Joe is survived by the love of his life, Zinetta Jane Dodd. They were united in holy matrimony on September 6, 1958. Together, through almost 65 years of marriage, they built a beautiful life with a treasured family. They were blessed with two sons, Greg Killingsworth and wife Beth, and Dusty Killingsworth and wife Tiffani. Joe was a loving, caring, supportive father and proud of each of his sons accomplishments.

Grandchildren were the extra sparkle in Joe’s big blue eyes. He had five grandchildren: Desiree Pirtle and husband Travis, Tye Killingsworth and wife Courtney, Kaden Killingsworth, Kenadi Killingsworth, and Kyler Killingsworth and four great-grandchildren: Millie and Elin Pirtle and Remi and Cooper Killingsworth.

Joe was from a large family and preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Alpha Killingsworth, one sister Martha Hembree, and brothers Charlie, Oral, Truman, Marvin, Howard, Glover Gene, infant Raymond, and Richard Killingsworth. He is survived by brother Steve Killingsworth and wife Donna as well as many nieces and nephews.

Joe accepted the Lord as a young child and then felt lead again as an adult to be saved and rededicate his life in 2016 in front of his family and friends in an “old fashion” creek baptism. Joe and Zinetta are members of Main Street Baptist Church in Greenfield, MO.

Joe’s body will be laid to rest on Thursday, April 13, 2023, with services being held at Main Street Baptist Church at 10 am and graveside services to follow at “Old Baptist” Pleasant Grove Cemetery. The family will also accept friends and family at a visitation service on Wednesday April 12, 2023 from 6 – 7:30 pm at Greenfield Funeral Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Joe Killingsworth Golf Scholarship Fund that has been set up in his honor to further build the love and passion for the game of golf. Please make checks payable to Zinetta Killingsworth, and may be mailed to Greenfield Funeral Chapel or Venmo to @dkillingsworth12.
