Jeanne Kalm

Jeanne Lynn Kalm, 72, of Frontenac, passed away at 7:18 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at her house surrounded by her family.

She was born December 6, 1950 at Melrose Park, Illinois, the daughter of Gerald “Jerry” and Marjorie (Wilcox) Parsons. She grew up in West Mineral where she attended local schools and graduated from Southeast High School in 1968. Following high school, she attended Mt. Carmel School of Nursing and graduated in 1971 as a Registered Nurse.








Jeanne worked as a Registered Nurse for forty-two years, working for Mt. Caramel Medical Center and Dr. C.W. Erickson’s office in Pittsburg, St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Newman-Young Clinic, Dr. Ralph Hall and Dr. Horng in Fort Scott.

On January 2, 1982, she was united in marriage to Lewis Gene Kalm at Timmons Chapel in Pittsburg. Together, they lived in Arcadia, rural Fort Scott before moving to Frontenac in 2016.

Membership was held in Countryside Christian Church; a former member of Community Christian Church in Fort Scott, where she was a Sunday School Teacher and taught at Vacation Bible School); FCE while living Fort Scott; Inactive member of Phi Tau Omega Sorority and Phi Kappa Chapter and attended many National Conventions; and the West Mineral Grade school Birthday Club of 1964. She also loved family and friends gatherings, going on the Kansas City Homes Tours, and playing Monopoly.

Survivors include her husband, Lewis G. Kalm of the home; Kevin Kalm and his wife, Morgan of Pittsburg; a brother, Jerry Parsons and his wife, Karen of Joplin, Missouri; two grandchildren, Evelyn Kalm and Emilia Kalm; five step-grandchildren; 1 step-great-grandchild; nephews, Bob Parsons and Ben Parsons; brother-in-law, Raymond Kalm; and sister-in-law, Kathryn Doerfler and husband, David and family.








She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Sandra Jo Parsons in 1957; and two step-daughters, Kayla Kutz and Holly Ebbs.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Harry Hynes Hospice, especially, Darlene, Tammy, Claudia and Chaplain Randy for all they have done the past few months.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday (April 24th) in the Countryside Christian Church with Don Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Sheffield Cemetery in Arcadia. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Brenner Mortuary, where friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Sunday. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to K.U.
