(From Clark Funeral Home)Michael Ray Surratt was born October 16th, 1959, in Kansas City, MO. He was the 9th of twelve children born to James Surratt and Barbara (Haase) Surratt. He entered into rest on April 11, 2023, in Commerce OK.
He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud papa, and a hardworking, godly man. He was proud of his relationship with God and sought to share the message of Christ to many who crossed his path.
He served in the United States Navy from September 1982 until November 1986 as a cook, taking great pride in his submarine service.

After his service, he spent his career working for several painting and other companies before stating “If they are going to make me run the job site, I might as well do it on my own.” He then opened his company, Quality Paint Company, growing it into a successful business. He worked many long hours and provided for his wife and family, giving of himself daily to ensure his children were well provided for.
He was a long-time member of Front Royal Baptist Temple in Front Royal VA, where he became a Christian in 1990, before moving back home to Oklahoma in 2006 to be closer to family. He served as an Usher or wherever he was needed. He could be found in the building any time the doors were open praying, painting walls, buffing floors, cleaning, repairing broken things and spending time with his church family whom he loved dearly. When he returned to Oklahoma, he joined the Southside Baptist Church Congregation in Joplin MO, where he was a Deacon and member.
Michael is survived by his wife, Phyllis Ruth Surratt of the home and a mixed family of children, Shawn (Sarah) Weyer of Blue Rapids, KS, Bambi Browhow of Joplin, MO, Janice Bane of Brooksville, FL, Lindsay (Daniel) Rice of Hunstville AR, Brandon Surratt (Whitney) of Forney, TX, and Matthew Surratt of Tacoma, WA, as well as 9 grandsons, KC, Alex, RJ, Elijah, Bentley, Lui, Augustus, Lionel, and Bearon, 8 granddaughters Selena, Carley, Nicole, Larissa, Faythe, Meagan, Rylee, and Makayla, and 1 great granddaughter Persephone.

He is also survived by 3 brothers and their spouses, James and Dorothy of Dayton, TX, Tom of Carl Junction, MO, and Danny and Marlys of Cedar Falls, IA as well as 4 sisters and their spouses Barbara Haworth of Miami, OK, Cheryl and Dannie Walker of Lexington, KY, Tina Ebbs of Houston, TX, and Debra Grant of Fort Valley, VA along with his beloved sister-in-law Rose, wife of Doug, and June wife of Jeff; many nephews and nieces.
He is preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers David, Doug, and Jeff, his sister Pamela Baggerly, and 3 brothers-in-law Tom Haworth, husband of Barbara, Dan Epps, husband of Tina, and Rick Grant, husband of Debra.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday April 17, 2023, at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Neosho, Missouri. Interment will follow the Kenny Cemetery. A Visitation will be held from 2:00-3:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at the Clark Funeral Home.
