Betty Jo Noel

Betty Jo Noel, age 66, passed away at 3:55 am, Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Galena Nursing and Rehab, Galena, KS following an illness.

Betty Jo was born June 25, 1956 in Wichita, KS. Her mother was Katherine Winona “Nonie” Powell. Betty Jo was raised by her grandparents, Lee and Beulah Powell. She had lived in Columbus and Galena most of her life.

She graduated from Columbus High School with the class of 1975. She worked at King Louie garment factory, Baxter Springs for 20 years. She last worked at Galena Nursing and Rehab in the kitchen.








She attended Galena Assembly of God and Spring River Assembly of God, Riverton, KS. She enjoyed sewing, going to flea markets, yard sales, window shopping and anything grandkid related. She never said no to watching the grandkids and always wanted them over to entertain. They were her pride and joy. And anyone who knew her, knew, if you were a friend, you were more like family. When friends were over she cooked for them, picked up after them, and mothered them, as if they were her own.

Betty Jo was married to Joseph Charles Noel Jr. He preceded her in death April 7, 1984. She was also preceded in death by her mother, grandparents, and one sister, Sharon Scott.








Surviving are two sons, Travis Noel (Christy Dohrman), Joplin, and Justin Noel (Tonia), Columbus: two brothers, Robert Powell (Vickey) Brooksville, FL, and Joe Cox, Guyman, OK; four sisters, Karen Engroff, (Bill), Columbus, Trendle Barr (Randy), Fairland, OK, Debbie Turnbough, Galena and Linda Factor (James) Sapulpa, OK; 9 grandchildren, Shane Noel, Courtney Altis, Jenna Noel, Grace Noel, Colby Altis, Hannah Noel, Cara Altis, Kip Noel, and Charlee Noel; and two women she was very close to, Angie Neftgzer and Trisha Price Osborn.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Monday, April 24, 2023 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Columbus, KS.

Memorial service will be 7:00 pm, Monday, April 24, 2023 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Columbus, KS. Pastor Roger Scantlin will officiate. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jason England, Doug Dryer, Ty Frazier, and Darryl (DJ) Hestand.
