Thelma Rogers

Thelma Joyce Rogers was born September 15, 1953 in Neosho, Missouri, one of four daughters, to Raymond and Hazel (Hogue) Rogers. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 27, 2023 at the age of 69. 

Thelma graduated from Neosho High School class of 1971 and from Crowder College with an Associate’s degree. She then attended Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri and Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary for two years at Ft. Worth, Texas. 








She taught kindergarten at the Pasadena Public Schools and in the summer, worked as a Park Ranger for George Washington Carver National Monument. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, word search puzzles and adult coloring books. 

Thelma was a member of the Garden of Gethsemane Church in Houston and served as a Sunday School Teacher and Usher and was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Neosho, also teaching Sunday School and serving as an usher. 

Thelma is survived by three sisters, Virginia Rogers of Joplin, Missouri, Alice Rogers of Los Angels, California and Harriett (Jimmy) Page of Joplin, Missouri; a nephew, Raymond Page; uncle, Clarence Hogue of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; her best friend, Diana Foster of Houston, Texas and numerous cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents. 








Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Tuesday, May 2nd at Second Baptist Church in Neosho, Dr. Robert Daniels, Sr. and Pastor Larry C. Anderson will officiate. The family will receive friends from 9:30 am until service time.

Interment will follow in the Newtonia Civil War Cemetery, Newtonia, Missouri. Contributions in memory of Thelma may be made to Garden of Gethsemane Usher Board, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66; Neosho, Missouri 64850.

  1. I went to school with Thelma, I believe she was Valedictorian of our graduating class. I remember her as a beautiful, kind girl.
