Thomas Edward Frame, 93, of Springfield, passed away April 9, 2023. He was born March 6, 1930 to Thomas Allen and Bernice Midyett Frame in Liberal, MO.

When Tom was 18 months old his mother passed away and he was raised by his paternal grandparents, Della Bumgarner and Charles Edward Frame, until his father remarried three years later to Leona Mae Essex.

He played basketball and took part in many Future Farmers of America projects and animal judging programs. After graduation from High School in 1947, Tom went into farming with his father.

In January 1952, he was drafted into the Army and sent to South Carolina for basic training. After he finished, he was shipped out for Active Duty in Korea. He served on the battlefield on the front lines in Korea until he was sent home on emergency leave when his grandmother was ill and passed away. He finished his military duties at Camp Atterbury, Indiana as a Corporal and was discharged honorable on October 2, 1953. Upon finishing his military service, he resumed farming with his father.

In 1954, Tom started dating the girl next door Mary Regina (Jeanne) Eccher who had been his next-door neighbor down the road most of her life. In December 1954, Tom and Regina became engaged and Tom began instructions in the Catholic Faith. In April 1955, Tom received the Sacraments of Baptism and the Holy Eucharist. On May 6, 1955, Tom and Regina took their vows of marriage in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony at St. Gabriel’s Church in Mulberry, KS. Father Colin Boor officiated in all these ceremonies.

Five children blessed their marriage: two daughters and three sons.

During his lifetime, Tom worked at General Motors in Kansas City, KS and Aggieville Lawn and Garden in Liberal, MO. He was then hired as Farm Manager for Lipscomb Farms in Liberal, MO, a position he held until 1971 when he went to work as Farm Manager for Joe Ida Association in Ft. Scott, KS.
