(From Parker Mortuary)Betty L. Claycomb, a beacon of love and generosity, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026, in Joplin, Missouri, at the age of 89. Born on January 22, 1937, in Stockton, MO, Betty's life was a testament to the power of thoughtfulness and the joy of simple pleasures.
Betty's early years were spent in the close-knit community of Webb City, where she attended Webb City High School. After graduation, she dedicated her life to the cherished role of a homemaker, creating a warm and welcoming home for her family and friends. Her loving spirit was the cornerstone of her home, and her presence made it a sanctuary of comfort and joy.
Betty's zest for life was evident in her many interests. She found great pleasure in listening to music, which was a constant source of happiness and inspiration for her. Traveling was another of Betty's passions, and she cherished the opportunity to explore new places with her loved ones. The memories created on these journeys were among her most treasured.
An avid reader, Betty could often be found with a book in hand, lost in the pages of a compelling story. Her love for her flower garden was equally profound. She spent countless hours tending to her plants, and her garden was a reflection of her soul—vibrant, nurturing, and full of life.
Betty is survived by her devoted son, Scott E. Claycomb and his wife, Kim, of Joplin, MO, and her loving daughter, Christi Lynn Thompson of Bartlesville, OK. Her life was also enriched by the presence of her five grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and many friends and extended family members who will miss her dearly.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her son Jason A. Claycomb, her beloved husband of 49 years, Edward S. Claycomb, and her sister.
Those who knew Betty will remember her as a loving and generous soul, always putting others before herself. Her thoughtfulness and caring nature left a lasting impact on everyone she met. Betty's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to experience her kindness and warmth.
Visitation for Mrs. Betty L. Claycomb will take place at Parker Mortuary on Sunday, March 1st from 4 till 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, family has asked that donations be made to the Joplin Humane Society or St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
