(From Parker Mortuary)Susan Lynn Hill went to be with the Lord on February 22, 2026. She was 76 years old. To those who loved her most, she was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, friend and quite simply, the world’s best Mom and Grandmother.
Susan was born on May 22, 1949, in Joplin, Missouri, to Jim and Emmie Beers. A lifelong resident of Joplin, she treasured her early years filled with family adventures. She often reminisced about road trips with her parents and sister Dawn camping and fishing in Canada, soaking up the sun at South Padre Island, and traveling alongside the Elbert clan, who remained like family throughout her life. Those trips helped shape her love of family and togetherness.
After graduating from Joplin High School in 1967, Susan attended Joplin Junior College, where she thrived academically and socially, forming friendships that would last a lifetime. In 1968, she married Randy Hill, beginning a companionship that would span 57 GLORIOUS years. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Wichita Falls, Texas, where Randy served in the United States Air Force. Those early years laid the foundation for a life built on commitment, resilience, and shared purpose.
Upon returning to Joplin in the early 1970s, Susan and Randy balanced raising two boys, working multiple jobs, and continuing their education, building a life rooted in hard work and commitment.
Susan became a familiar and caring face in the community through her work at various local banks. She concluded her professional career at Consumer Credit Counseling, where she compassionately helped countless individuals and families navigate difficult financial seasons. She had a steady, even-keeled presence and a rare ability to see the bigger picture - qualities that made people trust her and feel at ease.
In recent years, Susan and Randy devoted much of their time to traveling to Texas and Arkansas to support and be present for their grandchildren. While they enjoyed many trips, their favorite destination was Hawaii, where they spent extended time enjoying family, the beauty of the islands, and one another’s company.
Susan found deep joy in her beloved “Ya-Ya” group, where friendships were nurtured through laughter, prayer, and unwavering support. Most recently, she poured her heart into knitting. Hats, scarves, and blankets were the result of countless quiet hours, and while many were lovingly gifted to friends and family, much of her work was donated to Souls Harbor Rescue Mission and other local outreach ministries, ensuring warmth for those in need. Each stitch was a reflection of her generous spirit.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Randy Hill; her sister Dawn (Bob) Holden of Springfield, Missouri; her sons Rich (Holli) Hill of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Andrew (Kathy) Hill of Lucas, TX; and her six grandchildren: Dr. Bailey Green (Ben) of Charleston, South Carolina; Nick and Harper Hill of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and Brooke, Cade, and Brett Hill of Lucas, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Emmie Beers.
Susan had a big heart that showed up in simple, meaningful ways by asking how you were really doing, by offering a kind word, and by loving her family and friends faithfully and without condition. She was steady. She was gentle. She was strong. And to her family, she will always be the world’s best Mom and Grandmother.
A visitation will be held at Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary, on Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 4-6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Lafayette House or Solace House in care of the mortuary or a local charity serving families in need, continuing Susan’s quiet mission of caring for others.
Funeral arrangements are under the special care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
