(From Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary)Myrtle Rebecca "Becky" Decker, a beacon of love and gentleness, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, at the age of 97 in Joplin, MO. Born on April 14, 1928, in Waco, MO, to the late Robert McCorkle and Iona Foster-McCorkle, Becky was a cherished member of her community and a loving matriarch to her family.
Becky, a graduate of Waco High School, went on to earn a secretarial certificate from Joplin Junior College. Her intelligence and work ethic led her to a successful career, starting with clerical work at the Connor Hotel in Joplin, followed by positions at Diesel Supply and Jones Brothers Construction. Her professional contributions were marked by meticulous attention to detail and a warm, welcoming presence that made her a beloved colleague.
Throughout her life, Becky's heart was most deeply rooted in the love for her family. She is survived by her adoring grandchildren, Bobby Gould and his wife Lanay of Bentonville, AR, and Bradly "Rhett" Gould and his wife Tricia of Joplin, MO. Her legacy continues to flourish through her great-grandchildren, Remington, Liam, Ava, Claire, and Elise, who will carry forward the memories of her love and gentle spirit. Becky also leaves behind her son-in-law, Donald Gould and his wife Shirley of Joplin, and her nieces, Freda King, Joyce Kersey, and Iona Spencer, who will miss her dearly.
Becky's life was a testament to the power of love and the quiet strength of intelligence and gentleness. She was a woman who found joy in the simple pleasures of life, cherishing every moment spent with her loved ones. Her presence was a comforting constant, and her advice was always sought after for its wisdom and clarity.
Beside her parents, Becky is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Decker passing in 1991 after 43 years together. Additionally, their daughter, Karen Gould, passing in 2018.
Graveside services are planned for Friday, February 20, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Joplin Humane Society in care of the mortuary.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
