(From Paul Thomas Funeral Home)Dakota Wayne Berry lifetime resident of Miami, OK passed from this life Saturday, February 14, 2026 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO. He was 29.
Dakota was born on December 20, 1996 in Tulsa, OK to Michael and Christina (Eulitt) Berry. He was born with a rare bone disease called Osteogenesis Imperfecta. In spite of the challenges that he endured he remained positive and became an inspiration too many.
Dakota loved sports and wanted to become a sports broadcaster. He even commentated several games in middle school and high school. His knowledge of sports at a young age was impressive to say the least. His favorite teams were the Oklahoma Sooners, OKC Thunder, Minnesota Vikings, the St. Louis Cardinals. He was also an ambassador for Children’s Miracle Network for several years.
Dakota graduated from Miami High School Class of 2015. He was an honor student and editor of his senior yearbook. He also was a sportswriter for the newspaper in High School. After graduation he attended N.E.O. A&M College in Miami and received his associate’s degree in science. He then went on to MSSU in Joplin, MO where he doubled majored in Marketing and Business Management and received his bachelor’s degree in May of 2022.
Dakota was a member of Commerce Community Church in Commerce, OK. His faith in God was unwavering he knew God had a plan for him always he didn’t always understand it, he never Questioned It.
Dakota was preceded in death by his grandpa Bob Berry, great grandparents, Don and Dixie Eulitt and Glenn and Stella Whiteman.
Dakota is survived by his loving parents, Mike and Tina Berry, his brother Parker Berry, Grandma Tedi Berry, Papa Frank Eulitt and Grandma Deborah Carter, Grandma Kim Eulitt, his uncle Daniel Eulitt, uncle and aunt, Robert and Andrea Berry, Great uncle Rusty Eulitt, cousins, Caleb Eulitt, Amaris Patel, Justin and Sarah Berry, Jared and Katie Oakes, Jared and Cia VanTil and numerous other family members and many more.
Dakota had some amazing friends, Michael Rose, Trueman Satterwhite, Austin Schnakenberg, Bill and Alicia Starks, Will Carroll, Jacob Evertt and Ron Curry.
He will be missed by all that knew him. A special thanks to Miami Integris, PT, OT and Speech Therapy for taking such great care of him.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 20, 2026 at C3 Worship Center in Commerce, OK. Rev. Ron Rabel will officiate. Interment will be in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami, OK. Michael Rose, Trueman Satterwhite, Caleb Eulitt, Bill Starks, Austin Schnakenberg and Amaris Patel will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami, OK. We are so sorry! There are no words to fill the void of the loss of your child. We are praying for peace and comfort that only comes from heaven above. One day we will have a big family reunion in heaven and we will live there forever together.
