Erma Johnson

(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)

Georgia Erma Johnson was born December 28, 1933, in Newton County, Missouri, to Otis Johnson and Georgia (Gilstrap) Johnson. She passed away on February 15, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.

She was the last surviving of five siblings and was preceded in death by her three brothers, Edwin Johnson, Buddy Johnson and Burney Johnson and her sister, Deluah Mae (Johnson) Jeffers. She cherished her sister-in-laws and is survived by one, Donna Johnson.

Erma attended Redings Mill Elementary School and Oak Grove Elementary School before graduating from Neosho High School in 1951. She went on to serve 47 years in banking and was a devoted member of Beef Branch Church of Christ.

Erma was known for her compassionate and loving spirit. She had a special heart for those who most needed kindess. When her sister passed away in 1978, Erma lovingly stepped in and took in her nieces and nephews, providing care, guidance, and support during a difficult season. That act of selfless devotion reflected the very heart of who she was.

She leaves behind many who were blessed by her love, including numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. Though she held that title within her family, she was also lovingly known as “Aunt Erma” to nearly everyone she met.

Erma’s life was rooted in family, faith, and steady devotion to God and those she loved. She will be remembered not only for her years of faithful service and unwavering example of faith, but for the compassion she so freely gave and the lives she helped shape through her quiet strength and enduring love.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 19, 2026, at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at the Mason-Woodard Chapel.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Crematory.
