Mark McCool

(From Clark Funeral Home)

Mark Clayton McCool, 65, of Wyandotte, Oklahoma, entered in eternal rest at his home on February 23, 2026. He was born August 1, 1960, in Neosho, Missouri, to Orlie Wade McCool and Wilma Day Tracy Miller.

Mark spent his life working with his hands. He was a skilled heavy machine operator for Walter Specialty Services and owner and operator of J&M Enterprises.

Over the years, he helped run Tucker’s Restaurant and played a key role in building and managing Steak-Inn in Shell Knob, Missouri and Steak-Out in Jane, Missouri and Grove, Oklahoma. If you ever enjoyed a good meal in those places, there’s a good chance Mark had a hand in making it happen.

Mark enjoyed being outdoors, riding his mules, walking through the woods, or tinkering on a project. A childhood memory of Mark stated, he would have rather taken apart a lawn mower engine while his siblings played ball. If someone needed help, he’d show up. Mark was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back.

He is survived by his daughter, Melissa (Brad) Bunnell of Grove, Oklahoma; his son, Jonathan Henry McCool of Goodman, Missouri; two grandsons, Kenneth Trey Evans and Zachry Cole McCool; and three great-granddaughters, Sophia, Mia, and Kaislee Evans.

He is also survived by his sister, Lindy (Patrick) O’Brien of McDonald County.

His stepmother, Sue Wood; the mother of his children, Julie Lynn McCool; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Orlie Wade McCool; his mother, Wilma Day Tracy Miller; his stepfather, Leonard Miller; his brother, Michael Wade McCool; his aunt, Cleo Slinkard; Jerry McCool; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Visitation will be held Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., with funeral services following at 10:30 a.m., both at Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Williams, Avery Walter, Ethan Walter, Kenneth Evans, Gean Boyer, Vona Sue Wood, Mark Hormel, Matt Walter, Brett Hagans and Zachry McCool.
