Darlene Barber

Darlene Barber, a cherished soul known for her loving nature and generous spirit, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026, in her hometown of Joplin, Missouri. Born on August 15, 1964, also in Joplin, Darlene's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the impact one person can have on the lives of many.

After graduating from Joplin High School, Darlene dedicated herself to the field of healthcare, becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant. Her career was marked by compassion as she worked tirelessly in area nursing homes. Darlene's presence was a comfort to those she cared for, and she made a significant difference in the lives of her patients and their families through her thoughtful care and attention.








Darlene's zest for life extended beyond her professional endeavors. She had an artistic flair, often found drawing symmetrical objects and oblong shapes and vibrant colors that reflected her creative spirit. Her culinary skills were no less impressive, especially her zucchini bread, which was renowned among friends and family for its exquisite taste and belonged on a grocery store shelves. Darlene's love for cooking and baking was just another way she expressed her love for those around her.

Family was the cornerstone of Darlene's world. She is survived by her loving son, Ashton Barber and Kiana Wolff, and her devoted daughter, Chasity Barber Nichols, both of Joplin, MO. Her brothers, David Barber of Ohio and Jack Butler of Kansas City, MO, will remember her fondly, as will her special niece Shannon Sleet of Springfield, MO. Darlene's legacy will also live on through the many nieces, nephews, and friends who were blessed to know her. Darlene is also survived by her bonus son, Jerry Fetters, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana & dozens of her "bonus" kids.

Those who knew Darlene would describe her as a beacon of generosity and thoughtfulness. Her ability to listen, her willingness to help, and her constant nurturing presence were qualities that drew people to her. Darlene's life was a reflection of her values, and her memory will be cherished by all who had the fortune to cross her path.
